This experiment is focused on exploring and harnessing magnetic ground state of the multiferroic materials, with particular emphasis on the hexagonal (h), rare-earth ferrites (RFeO3). The Fe ion sitting at the in-plane triangular noncollinear lattice of h-RFeO3 crystal promotes the instability of the magnetic structure and leads to complex magnetic phase diagram. The magnetic properties of these materials can be tuned by controlling the frustration parameter through a careful selection of materials. We will systematically study families of multiferroic materials in which the localized moments reside on triangular sublattice configurations.
