In this proposal we propose to continue our investigation into the LaNiC2 non-centrosymmetric superconductors. Previously, we have shown that in this system time reversal symmetry is broken with the onset of superconductivity and that the superconducting ground state is made up of both singlet and triplet states. Doping the Ni sites with Cu increases the superconducting transition temperature from 2.7K to 4.2K, whilst doping La with Th increases the transition temperature to 8K. Such doping might be expected to increase disorder and therefore have a detrimental effect on the triplet superconductivity. We therefore wish to take this unique opportunity to investigate systematically the effects of doping (and corresponding lattice expansion) on triplet superconductivity and using uSR, and hence we have requested 7 days of beamtime on the MuSR spectrometer.
