Is there a hidden Magnetic Order in KxRb2-xV8O16?

KxRb2-xV8O16 are series of hollandite compounds exhibiting a quasi 1D structure. In such systems, the formation of the magnetic ground state originates from a dominant intra-chain interaction together with a competition between the nearest and next nearest neighbour interactions. Moreover, many of these compounds exhibits metal-insulator transitions that, as of today, is not fully understood. From magnetic susceptibility measurements, a tail like feature at low temperature is observed, which, up to now, has been attributed to impurity contribution. However, our previous muSR measurement suggested this to be an intrinsic behaviour of the compounds. Instead, we believe this tail feature can be attributed to a hidden order, lurking below 0.3 K. In this proposal, we wish to investigate the magnetic behaviour of these compound below 1.8K in order to elucidate any hidden magnetic order.
