Ever since the first published consideration of the ground state of a triangular lattice of Ising spins by PW Andersen in the 50's, the pursuit of materials with geometrically frustrated magnetic (GFM) lattices has been an important driver in experimental condensed matter physics. The simplest GFM case is a triangular lattice, but this is rare, more experimental work has been performed on the kagome lattice. However undistorted (perfectly hexagonal) magnetic kagome lattices are also rare, with the mineral jarosites being studies the most. We wish to study, Fe4Si2Sn7O16, which contains a perfect Fe based Kagome lattice. Our neutron diffraction studies suggest that two of the three spins on the triangle order, but we have seen no evidence of a third dynamic spin. We wish to study this material using muSR to probe the dynamics of the spins in this system.
