Principal Investigator: Dr. Sanal Ebeneezar, Scientist, ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi, India. A thorough understanding of the critical nutritional requirements (stage and species specific) as well as the molecular mechanisms of nutrient digestion, absorption and utilization is essential to address the major nutritional challenges of marine fish larvae. Keeping this in focus, the ICAR Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute launched the 'Dr. E. G. Silas Centre of Excellence and Innovations in Marine Fish Microbiome and Nutrigenomics' (Dr. EGS-CoEI), which is funded by the Department of Biotechnology (Grant No. BT/AAQ/3/SP28267/2018), Government of India (http://210.212.232.215/egscei/index.php). Cobia (Rachycentron canadum), Silver Pompano (Trachinotus blochii), and Orange spotted Grouper (Epinephelus coioides) were selected for this study. The Dr. EGS-CoEI is the first of its kind in India, devoted to improving the larval growth and survival of commercially important mariculture species.
