Impact of Plasma-Saliva Saccharide Migration on the Supragingival Microbiome in Type 2 Diabetes

This study investigates how saccharides, such as glucose and fructose, migrate from plasma to saliva in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and influence the supragingival microbiome. We recruited T2D and Normoglycemic individuals and collected plasma, glandular saliva, whole saliva, and supragingival plaque to assess changes in microbiome associated with plasma-saliva saccharide migration.
