Diversity of Candida species in bloodstream infections compared to gut and skin metagenome samples

This study characterized the diversity of Candida present in patients with candidemia, comparing bloodstream isolates to those found at other body sites. We carried out whole genome sequencing of Candida isolates (predominantly C. albicans, C. glabrata, and C. parapsilosis) from blood cultures and whole metagenomic sequencing and internal transcribed spacer sequencing for stool samples or skin swabs.
