This dataset compiles weekly phenological observations made between 2007 and 2024 at two INRAE (Villa Thuret in Antibes and a plot in Sophia-Antipolis in Biot) experimental sites. It documents the annual cycles of development, growth, and reproduction of 79 individuals, belonging to 16 persistent or deciduous woody species, adapted to or originating from areas subject to Mediterranean climates.
The observations were made with the naked eye or with the help of binoculars, according to a standardized protocol including phases of inter-calibration between observers, particularly at the beginning of the annual campaign to mitigate "observer" effects. The phenological stages were coded according to the BBCH scale of the TEMPOTEMPO network (budburst, leafing, flowering, fruiting, senescence) and a complementary scale developed by the UEVT for monitoring bark renewal (E1–E3).
The data is structured by site, species, individual, date, and phenological code, with a comments field. Herbarium samples associated with each individual allow for taxonomic verification. This dataset constitutes a resource for the study of the phenological cycles of Mediterranean species in semi-natural conditions and for the analysis of their responses to climate change.
