Benchmarked municipal water price data for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2011-2015

DOI

This data compares municipal water charges for a number of reasonably wealthy global cities, with Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita shown for context. Its purpose is to benchmark the price of municipal water for cities in Saudi Arabia. The data demonstrates that water charges in Saudi Arabia are significantly lower than for all other cases shown, despite its GDP per capita being comparable. This comparison is used to support the case that water charges in Saudi Arabia are too low and should be increased. The data is taken from work already published, with the addition of the figures for Saudi Arabia.

Data not generated by authors, but taken from referenced publications. Except for 1 data figure, taken from unpublished internal records of Ministry of Water, Environment and Agriculture, Saudi Arabia. See file uploaded for citations.
