Data from: Using machine learning to predict willingness-to-pay values of birds and mammals with species-specific information

DOI

Willingness-to-pay (WTP) values of species helps reveal the societal support for biodiversity conservation, in turn providing crucial information for policymakers and practitioners. In this database we collected 381 published WTP values of 28 bird, 17 marine mammal and 36 terrestrial mammal species from the literature. Specifically, we collected data on annual payments. Besides information on the WTP value (e.g. average value, standard deviation, currency, sample size), the database also provides species-specific information (e.g. scientific name, location), methodological information (e.g. mode of administration, elicitation format, payment vehicle) and information of respondents (e.g. resident or visitor).
