Texture and 3D strain pole figure measurement of engineering components by GEM

DOI

The proposed experiment is to measure texture and strain tensor for specimens made by Direct Laser Deposition (DLD) and Linear Friction Welding (LFW) techniques. The diffractometer GEM is needed for both texture and strain tensor measurements. One objective is to study how textures in the specimens have been affected by the manufacturing techniques. We also expect to develop a method to measure a full strain tensor without sample rotation. This method would be applied to the specimens and study the residual strain tensor distributions.
