SLRC - Life cycle of the salmon louse (Lepeophtheirus salmonis)

This data set contains the visual depiction of the eight life stages of the life cycle (LC) of Lepeophtheirus salmonis (LSa), the salmon louse.

Male and female salmon lice cannot be distinguished by the naked eye in the Nauplius, Copepodid and Chalimus stages. First in the larger (note the different scale!) pre-adult and adult stages, sex determination by visual inspection is possible.

The data set contains three tiff-files with high resolution (12065x12535). There are three versions, one contains the stage names and biological sexes written as text (long), one uses symbols to indicate sex (symbol), and one uses abbreviated stage names and sex symbols (short).
