Summer (2015) surveys of Atlantic salmon gut microbiota farmed in Tasmania (D'Entrecasteaux Channel)

The gut microbiota of Farmed Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) were surveyed in the Austral Summer of 2015. The goal was to determine wht taxa colonise the gut taking into account diet and water-derived DNA. Fish sampled came from sea pens located in the D'Entrecateaux Channel, Tasmania. 16S rRNA gene amplicons amplified using the V1-V3 primer set were sequenced using the Illumina MiSeq platform.
