These files contain the data of a study on self-determination of people with mild intellectual disabilities and drug-resistant epilepsy using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis.
Method: Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was applied to investigate the lived experiences with respect to self-determination of people with mild intellectual disabilities and drug resistant epilepsy. We used semi-structured interviews to collect the data. Data analysis consisted of the following stages:
1. Analysis of each separate interview on descriptive, linguisticand conceptual level and formulation
2. Identification of emergent themes of each interview
3. Clustering and formulation of themes and interconnectedsubthemes of each interview
4. Comparison of themes and narratives across interviews
Universe: The group of people were adult men and women with a mild to borderline intellectual disability and drug-resistant epilepsy from the Netherlands.
Ethical approval was provided by the Ethics Review Board of Tilburg University (RP305)).
