Phenotypic variation within and between species during early radiation stages

DOI

This dataset comprises 571 live photographs of hamlets (Hypoplectrus spp.). The photographs are in raw format .CR2 from a Canon camera. This dataset spans 14 hamlet species from 7 locations in the wider Caribbean: Panama, Belize, Mexico, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Tobago and the Florida Keys (USA). Photographs were taken in situ underwater. This dataset was used in a newly developed quantitative image analysis pipeline to comprehensively assess phenotypic variation accross the whole hamlet radiation.

This work required ethical approval from the STRI Animal Care and Use Committee (ACUC) and was obtained under the number SI-22010.The tan hamlet (ID: PL17_125) has not been described yet. The species name is therefore only given as Hypoplectrus.
