Parsivel disdrometer measurements at AWIPEV, Ny-Ålesund (2017)

DOI

The OTT Parsivel 2 is a modern laser disdrometer for comprehensive measurements of all precipitation types. The Parsivel captures both the size and velocity of falling particles, classifying them into one of 32 separate size and velocity classes. Based on these measurements, the precipitation type is determined by the OTT software. The precipitation particles are categorized as "drizzle", "drizzle with rain", "rain", "rain, drizzle with snow", "snow", "snow grains", "freezing rain", and "hail". This data set contains the number of falling particles per velocity and diameter class and the determined precipitation type of the OTT Parsivel 2 disdrometer for 2017.
