We propose to study comprehensively the structure of single crystal PbZr1-xTixO3 using the high-resolution SXD instrument. A diffuse scattering experiment is also proposed to study the complex feature of PZT at the atomic scale. The excellent diffraction pattern we obtained with the trial run shows that our sample is appropriate for the instrument. We request 5 days of SXD time to collect the Bragg peaks and diffuse scattering, each run for about 19 hours, with 2 hours per orientation for 9 orientations and a partial run. We plan to measure three samples: x = 0.20, 0.42, 0.46 at room temperature and above the R3m-R3c, rhombohedral-monoclinic or monoclinic-tetragonal phase transition, respectively. This makes a total of 6 runs, requiring an allocation of 5 days including heating and cooling time. We request a furnace for the high-temperature experiments.
