Transcriptomic investigation of the impact of outer membrane vesicles from Vibrio parahaemolyticus on the growth and immune functions of Penaeus vannamei

Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND), triggered by Vibrio parahaemolyticus, poses a severe threat to shrimp aquaculture. This study focuses on the extraction of outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) from Vibrio parahaemolyticus associated with AHPND. By incorporating these OMVs at two different concentrations into the basic feed of Penaeus vannamei and administering it for a 28-day period, we aim to investigate the influence of OMVs on the growth and immune functions of the shrimp using transcriptomic analysis. After the feeding period, hepatopancreatic tissues were harvested for RNA extraction. High-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was employed to analyze the shrimp transcriptome. This approach facilitated the identification of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and provided insights into the molecular responses triggered by the presence of Vibrio parahaemolyticus OMVs.
