The role of urea in cellulose dissolution

Neutron scattering of cellulose solutions in aqueous urea/alkali system will be recorded at ambient conditions in the Q-range of 0.01 to 1.5 A-1. The concentration of urea and alkali and the type of alkali cations will be varied to deduce the number of alkali cations and urea molecules in direct interaction with cellulose.
