Direct validation of limiting total capacities of nanoporous hydrogen storage materials using inelastic neutron scattering

DOI

This set of experiments, which will utilize the new kbar pressure range BeCu gas sample cell designed for TOSCA, will experimentally validate the results of our mathematical models for the total amounts of hydrogen contained in a non-crystalline porous material by adsorption at elevated pressures and cryogenic temperatures. In addition, it will allow extraction of important information on the state (gaseous, liquid-like or solid-like) and the mechanisms of adsorption of hydrogen inside nanopores during the adsorption process.
