The Transgender Italy dataset was produced as part of an Italian Master's thesis project entitled "Transgender: a quantitative look at discrimination, gender affirmation, and life satisfaction". The project had a twofold objective: on the one hand, to provide a quantitative description of the experiences of Italian transgender people in terms of discrimination, gender affirmation path and self-determination; on the other hand, to study the effect of the gender affirmation path on transgender people's satisfaction, taking into account the dimension of self-determination and the heterogeneity of experiences. The dataset includes data collected through an online questionnaire administered to 132 Italian transgender adults. Given the characteristics of the target population, sampling is not probabilistic. The questions are divided into four sections: - demographic information: age, place of residence, education, employment status and economic condition; - discrimination experienced as a transgender person: in general terms and in seven specific areas of social life; - path to gender affirmation; - quality of social relations and the attachment to the transgender community.
