Count data for net trawls collected along the Western Antarctic peninsula during March 2023 on board Maria S. Merian. Macrozooplankton samples were collected along a pre-designed set of 53 stations following the zig-zag design of the visual survey. We used a rectangular midwater trawl RMT8+1 following the guidelines of CCAMLR for standardised krill surveys. The RMT8+1 consists of a rectangular frame with an effective mouth opening of 8 m² (RMT-8) equipped with a 4.5 mm mesh krill net, plus on top a 300 µm zooplankton net with an effective mouth opening of 1 m² (RMT-1). The RMT was equipped with a pressure sensor to record the depth of the net during trawling. A Hydrobios impeller flowmeter was used to estimate the volume of water sampled in m³. Double oblique hauls were conducted up to a depth of 200 m, or 10 m above the seabed if the water column depth was shallower than 200 m. Additional comparative catches were taken at two stations for day/night and deep/shallow comparisons.
