Neutron Measurements with a Telescope Proton Recoil Spectrometer on ChipIR

DOI

A TPR spectrometer has been designed and realized for the new ChipIR beamline. Here the YAP crystals (1’’ and 0.1’’ thick) will be used in coincidence with silicon detectors in ΔE-E configuration. The fast neutron spectrum (E > 10 MeV) is a critical feature for a beamline designed for chip irradiation experiments (such as ChipIR). The spectrum of ChipIR has been calculated with Monte Carlo simulations. Direct measurements of the spectrum are needed for the characterization of the neutron flux, to benchmark the simulations, and for a better understanding of the ChipIR fast neutron beam. These measurements can be carried out with a TPR.
