Bausteine für eine sozial-ökologische Wirtschaftswende

Building blocs for a social-ecological transformation: This article critiques the limitations of »green growth« for tackling climate change and argues for a shift towards a post-growth economy. Green growth, by prioritizes technological innovation, market solutions, and not transforming high-consumption lifestyles, fails to achieve deep emissions cuts. A post-growth approach, in contrast, prioritizes social and ecological well-being over economic growth. This involves transforming consumption patterns, reducing resource use, and redistributing wealth and power. The article outlines key building blocs of this transformation, including guaranteed basic services, job guarantees and work hour reduction, maximum income and limitations on unsustainable consumption. It concludes by emphasizing the urgency of a post-growth transition to avert climate catastrophe and ensure a just and sustainable future.
