AsxS1-x binaries belong to the most studied chalcogenide glassy systems. The glass-forming region in the system was found to be rather limited, 0.05 < x < 0.43, caused by As4S4 cages leading to rapid crystallisation. The above scenario does not predict any glasses for As-rich compositions. Excitingly, we were able to synthesise a new family of As-rich sulphur glasses at 0.6 < x < 0.8, i.e., far above the previous limit. It should be noted that our synthesis has been carried out at ambient pressure. In other words, there are two glass-forming regions in the As-S system. The obtained glasses seem to be molecular. In order to decode the structure of these exciting new glasses and relate it to the structure of As4S4 and As4S3 liquids, we are planning neutron diffraction measurements of 2 glassy compositions at room temperature and 2 stoichiometric liquids at 500-700 °C.
