Swiss Electoral Studies (Selects) is a research network of the institutes for political science at the Universities of Zurich, Berne, Geneva, Lausanne and St. Gallen, the Statistical Office of the Canton of Ticino, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office, the Federal Chancellery and FORS. The primary aims of Selects is 1) to secure a continuous collection of data on Swiss national elections, 2) to provide state-of-the-art analyses of developments related to national elections and voting behaviour in Switzerland, 3) to promote the integration of electoral research in Switzerland into international research networks, and 4) to provide relevant information on Swiss elections for the public. Data collection primarily includes post-election surveys of Swiss citizens. Voters surveys are regularly complemented with coded media-content data. Data collection in the context of 2007 national elections will, for the first time, also comprise a parallel survey of candidates running for parliamentary seats.
