Partial random whole genome sequencing of Vibrio mediterranei clade strains with taxonomic purposes

A random partial genome pyrosequencing approach was performed on seven Vibrio strains of the mediterranei clade using a GS Junior (Roche) sequencing instrument at the Central Service of Support to Experimental Research (SCSIE) of the University of Valencia. Calculation of ANI according to MUMmer (ANIm) and BLAST (ANIb) between assembled data and Vibrio shilonii (ABCH01000001-ABCH01000158) performed on JSpecies as described in Richter & Rosselló-Móra (2009), yielded low values confirmed the synonymy of V. shilonii and V. mediterranei and supported the description of Vibrio thalassae sp. nov., type strain CECT 8203, to embrace one of the subclades
