Combined in situ PDF, NPD and conductivity study of BaD2

DOI

Barium hydride is a of interest due to its high hydride ion conductivity, which would make it suitable as an electrolyte materials in a variety of electrochemical devices and novel membrane reactors. A combined variable atmosphere and temperature conductivity sample environment has been developed in a collaboration between St Andrews and ISIS. NPD and PDF data will be collected at several temperatures while continuously recording sample impedance. Through combining these techniques, a detailed picture of charge carrier mobility and conduction pathways will be built.
