Origin of Athermal Photo-Induced Effects in Chalcogenide Glasses:

With the proposed experiment, we aim to analyze the specific structural changes occurring at a local level when chalcogenide glasses are exposed to photon beams. We intend to quantify and compare the impact of photons with energies around the bandgap (~eV) of the glass and those within the hard X-ray spectrum. The EXAFS spectra will enable us to examine the athermal local atomic rearrangements induced by photons of varying energies and polarizations. Our objective is to enhance our understanding of the microscopic mechanisms underlying the photo-induced phenomena observed in this family of glasses.
