Prokaryotic community associated with the Mediterranean sponges Agelas oroides and Aplysina cavernicola

This project aims to describe the microbial community associated with the Mediterranean sponges Aplysina cavernicola and Agelas oroides. Both species, well known for their production of bioactive molecules, also harbor abundant prokaryotic communities, making them suitable models for holobiont studies. The metabarcoding approach involved the amplification of the V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene, using the primers 515Y-806RB. Sequencing was performed with Illumina NovaSeq and analyzed with the VTAM pipeline. For detailed information of the study, see Ruiz et al, (in press).
