Replication Data for: Leap, Hare, Leap! Long-distance dispersal in mountain hare revealed by GPS collaring

DOI

This dataset contains position data of the dispersal event of a subadult male hare no. 706, as well as position data of its new home range. Data ranges from January 13th 2025 to January 16th 2026. As part of a study of mountain hare (Lepus timidus) behavioural responses to coat colour mismatch (HareKlima), we initiated capturing mountain hares in February 2024. As the first hare of the field season in 2025, on January 13th we captured a subadult male mountain hare in a cage trap 80x80x30 cm baited with sunflower seeds at N 62.9419938, E 11.7810163 in Tydal Municipality, Trøndelag County, Norway. After at least 12 days of dispersal it settled in a new area, 59 km further north, at N 63.4, E 11.2.
