This dataset contains Singlebeam Echosounder (SBES) measurements acquired during the RV METEOR cruise M143 in the Black Sea between 13 and 14 December 2017. It comprises three surveys: two in water depths of 300–800 m and one on the continental shelf at approximately 120 m depth. The SBES data were collected alongside EM710 and EM122 multibeam echosounder water column imagery to support the quantification of gas emissions. No ping synchronization was applied; however, interference between the systems was minimal and considered noncritical.
--- Instrumentation and Setup ---System: Mobile Kongsberg EK80 / ES38-7 broadband echosounderDeployment: Mounted through the R/V Meteor moon poolTransceiver: Kongsberg WBT-mini, max output power 1000 WTransducer: ES38-7, nominal frequency 38 kHz, nominal beam width 7°Calibration: Conducted during the cruise using a 38.1 mm tungsten calibration sphere lowered through the moon poolMode: Narrowband continuous wave (CW)Recording: Complex samplesAdditional setup: Applied EK80 slow ramping pulse shape to minimize side lobes and thus interference with parallel recording MBESsFurther operational and methodological details are documented in the Cruise Report.
