This set of files provides simulated calibration data needed for the analysis of Heavy Ion Counter (HIC) observations at Jupiter. The primary source of the observations is in the Planetary Data System (PDS). The data are packaged in 15 different bundles, retrievable through https://pds-ppi.igpp.ucla.edu/search/instrument, and by selecting "Heavy Ion Counter (HIC)" under "Galileo Orbiter (GO)". The calibration curves provided here are needed to interpret the Pulshe Height Analysis (PHA) event data contained within some of these bundles. PHA data are required for separating the contribution of different ion species in the total signal of HIC. The description of the HIC and PHA data, and retrieval of composition information based on the files provided here, are desribed in Roussos et al. (2022) (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abm4234) and in Plainaki et al. (2026) (under review - link to be updated when available). The files contain ionizing energy deposition information in different HIC detectors. This information is required to apply composition inversion methods through the (dE/dx vs E) technique, detailed in the studies above. Supplementary information is provided, such as simulated Geometric Factors (GF), based on instrument GEANT4 simulations (see Roussos et al. 2022).
