Porosity of sediment cores from the Northeast Atlantic (MSM96)

Samples were collected during cruise MSM96 in 2020. Porosity was determined from the water loss after freeze-drying assuming a seawater density of 1.023 g cm-3 and a particle density of 2.5 g cm-3.Cores were sampled to assess heterogeneity of deep-sea sediments in the Northeast Atlantic. Porosity was used for calculations of benthic fluxes of nutrients and trace metals.
