Model results are provided for different water quality indicators from IOW’s western Baltic Sea model covering the region 9.4-17.3°E and 53.6-57°N with a horizontal resolution of approx. 600m. The model results show near-surface concentrations of Winter-DIN, Winter-DIP and Summer-chlorophyll (using May to September), as well as the annual number of hypoxic and anoxic days from the deepest layer for 2010 to 2022. These variables were chosen as they are used water quality indicators by EU-MSFD Descriptor 5 (eutrophication). They are from a model simulation using GETM, to which the biogeochemical model ERGOM was coupled via FABM and are part of the DAM project PrimePrevention (https://www.marextreme.de/primeprevention). The provided experiment supports the analysis of already occurred extreme events, helps to identify cascade effects and assesses how biological hazards (like algae blooms or oxygen deficiency events) got impacted by extreme events.
