Non-destructive investigation of pottery finds from Vörs-Máriaasszonysziget

DOI

The present application focuses on the mineral phase determination of the pottery matrix. Samples of coarse grain temper (organic and inorganic, i.e., chaff, grog (=broken pottery) and rock fragments will be studied to relate to neutron tomography of the interiors of the sample. The pieces analyzed will be provided by the Hungarian National Museum, from Vörs-Máriaasszonysziget, a site which has special importance in the spreading of the "Neolithic package", i.e., notions on productive economy, pottery-making and other Neolithic crafts in the Central parts of Europe.
