Transcriptome of Mytilus coruscus foot tissue

Mussels attach to various submerged surfaces using byssus containing various proteins as a promising source of a water-resistant bio-adhesive for potential use in biotechnological applications and medical adhesives. In order to increase genomic resources and identify mussel adhesive proteins (MAPs) of byssus in Mytilus coruscus, high-throughput illumina sequencing was undertaken on the mussel foot .
