Magnetic excitations in spin ladders

DOI

We wish to measure the magnetic excitations and subgap states in a doped (x=0.06) spin ladder using MERLIN. The purpose of the measurements is to ascertain the relationship between the charge and magnetic states in the ladders. This is important as the measurements on the x=0.12 case have revealed a hole-paired charge density wave state where spin pairings have driven its formation. The dynamics of this state itself is puzzling and does not match the current models but resembles closely high Tc cuprates. The x=0.06 measurements, which will be complemented by high resolution ARPES, will provide crucial information on the systematic change with doping and relation to the band states.
