Anoxic hexadecane-degrading enrichment at 70 degrees Celsius

Anaerobic hexadecane-oxidizing enrichment cultures at 70 degrees Celsius were established from hydrothermal deep-sea sediments from Guaymas Basin (Gulf of California). The microbial community consists of alkanotrophic Hadarchaea, sulfate-reducing bacteria and archaea and heterotrophic bacteria and archaea. Metagenomes were sequenced at different cultivation stages and co-assembled to obtain metagenome-assembled genomes.
