The data refer to an experimental campaign carried out to develop and validate a numerical tool that will be employed to study the survivability of different point absorber devices under extreme wave conditions. The aim of the experimental campaign was to analyse the movement and the forces acting on three different buoy configurations (Tension Leg, Chain and Power Take-off) when subjected to the action of waves. The experiments were carried out in the CIEM (Canal d’Investigació I Experimentació Maritima) wave flume in the Laboratory of Maritime Engineering of the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech, Barcelona, Catalonia).
