DGS-SemDomCoViPe: Signs of German Sign Language (DGS) in the semantic domains of cognition and visual perception

DOI

This data set contains signs of German Sign Language (DGS) in the semantic domains cognition and visual perception.

Data was obtained by gathering English (action/process) lexemes using different resources (see References). Lexemes were then translated into German systematically via a predefined process. After the translation process, an online semantic lexicon was used in order to ensure uniform classification. These German lexemes were then used as keywords to look for DGS signs in the DGS corpus.

Since the place of articulation (PoA) was of particular interest for this study, the PoA was also noted using the annotation provided by the DGS-Korpus project.
