Identification of genes regulated by the repressor GaaX in Aspergillus niger

Genes involved in galacturonic acid utilization by Aspergillus niger are activated by the transcription factor GaaR. Mutations in a gene, which we call gaaX, adjacent to the gaaR gene allow constitutive expression of GaaR-controlled genes. This study looked for transcripts that are up-regulated in JC1.5, a gaaX knockout strain, to identify targets of GaaX repression.
