Data and protocols described in the publication 'Early-life interventions to prevent feather pecking and reduce fearfulness in laying hens'

DOI

This dataset contains the protocols and data from behaviour tests and observations performed in laying hen pullets, namely feather damage, feather pecking, foraging behavior, human approach test, novel object test and behavioral recovery after a stressor. These tests were performed as part of a 2x2 factorial design study that investigated the effects of light during incubation and enrichment during rearing on behaviour of laying hen pullets. This experiment was part of PPILOW. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under grant agreement number 816172. The research was published in Poultry Science: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.psj.2023.102801
