[ENG] A collection of micrographs illustrating the organisation of the tongue in mice and rats. The stratified epithelium, connective tissue layers, muscular bundles, blood vessels, and nerves are shown in paraffin sections stained with hæmatoxylin-eosin or van Gieson trichrome. Semithin sections 2 µm thick were stained with toluidine blue. Samples used for transmission electron microscopy were perfused with a mixture of formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde, postfixed in osmium tetroxide and then in uranyl maleate, and embedded in EPON 812. Thin sections approximately 50 nm thick were counter-stained with uranyl acetate and lead citrate. The surface of filiform papilla and the basal or germinative layer are show. Panoramic views of the skeletal muscle and details of the sarcomeres are also depicted in the electron micrographs. [CAT] Col·lecció de micrografies de l'organització de la llengua del ratolí i de la rata. Es mostra l’epiteli estratificat, el teixit conjuntiu, els feixos musculars, vasos sanguinis i nervis en talls de parafina tenyits amb hematoxilina-eosina, el tricròmic de van Gieson o talls semifins de resina epoxi tenyits amb blau de toluïdina. Les mostres destinades a la microscòpia electrònica de transmissió es van perfondre amb una barreja de formaldehid i glutaraldehid, es postfixaren en tetraòxid d'osmi i maleat d'uranil i s'inclogueren en EPON 812. Els tall ultrafins d'uns 50 nm de gruix es van contrastar amb acetat d'uranil i citrat de plom. Les electromicrografies mostren la superfície de les papil·les filiformes i l'estrat basal o germinatiu de l'epiteli. The project was discontinued in 2021 or 2022, and the material became unavailable. Some of the electron microscopy images I contributed at that time have now been adjusted for brightness and contrast, with lettering and labelling added, and figure legends prepared for inclusion in this collection. Unfortunately, it was not possible to examine the original grids and sections again, and some elements could not be identified or photographed at higher resolution.
