本講演は、染汚意(kliṣṭa-manas)という概念の形成をめぐり、その成立に先行する諸前提と、それを要請した諸動機を解明することを目的とする。ただし、副題に掲げた三つの概念すべてを網羅的に論じることを意図するものではない。
