Effects of environmental changes on microbial communities in sediments at Boknis Eck (SW Baltic Sea)

Human activities are altering the oceans, causing warming and deoxygenation, and affecting biodiversity, productivity and biogeochemical cycling. At the coastal time-series station Boknis Eck (SW Baltic Sea, Germany), we studied how warmer, previously anoxic overlaying waters shape the sedimentary microbial community compositions in comparison to colder, fully oxic conditions.
