Diatom biostratigraphic data from IODP Site 382-U1537

DOI

This data is presence/absence data of fossil diatoms. These diatoms were recovered from marine sediment cores recovered as part of IODP Expedition 382 at Site U1537. This site is located in the Scotia Sea, off the Antarctic Peninsula. This data was collected shipboard, in 2019, and at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2020 and 2021. All data was collected using binocular microscopes at 1000x magnification. The data covers the timeframe from the present to approximately 3.4 million years ago. Resolution is generally in the thousands to tens of thousands of years. This data was collected to refine diatom biostratigraphy in the Southern Ocean.
