Relative abundance of benthic foraminifera from sediment core 3

DOI

This dataset comprises quantitative foraminiferal faunal assemblage data from the vibro core Core 3 collected during the SEEP (Building a SEabed Environmental baseline for Platform abandonment) campaign in the North Sea in June 2022. The core was recovered from a water depth of 41 m. The benthic foraminifera distributions were analyzed at selected depth intervals, and species percentage and diversity indices (including the Shannon–Wiener index) were calculated. All data are depth-resolved and provide quantitative information on vertical variations in faunal composition within the sediment cores. Sample processing and faunal analyses were conducted using standard micropalaeontological and palaeoecological methods, including sediment subsampling, sieving, taxonomic identification under microscopy, and quantitative counting procedures.
