Sediment echosounder (Teledyne Parasound P70 echosounder) data are generally retrieved to get information on the characteristics of the upper tens of meters of the sub-seafloor. Raw primary high frequency (PHF) and secondary low frequency (SLF) echo sounding data were retrieved during POLARSTERN cruise PS141 (EASI-3) and are archived here in ASD and PS3 format. During POLARSTERN cruise PS141, Parasound data formed the basis for determination of appropriate coring locations. The entire dataset of cruise PS141 is archived here, including data from international waters off Australia (Tasmania) to off Namibia. The target region is the continental shelf of Antarctica between 85°E and 115°E, off the ice margin from Wilhelm-II to Wilkes Land.
