The lexicon is compiled applying the method of crowdsourcing using the dictionary-editing system LEXONOMY. It was compiled as a study project by the group of students in the module Lithuanian Lexicology and Lexicography (2025).
The lexicon of slang items (words and multi-word units) is collected by analysing various types of video-recordings (interviews, Mic‘d Up recordings, match highlights from Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL), Basketnews.lt, Krepšinis.net etc.) from 2020-2025. The spontaneus speech of 4 groups of basketball professionals - basketball players, trainers, journalists and judges - was analysed. The amount of study: speech production of basketball players - 3 h 30 min.; speech production of trainers - 4 h 40 min., judges - 32 min., journalists - 5 h. The mixed material - 3 h.
The lexicon is in name-value hierarchy (NVH) format, a plain-text markup language designed for lexicography, seving as the native format for the Lexonomy dictionary editor (see https://www.lexonomy.eu/).
An entry includes the following information: a) source (source-name, date and ULR); b) definition with one or several authentic examples; c) for some entries, the field "user-group" is specified but this information is not always consistent.
